Hello –
I was asked to write a review of my visit to the chess club last Tuesday evening.
***********
My name is Erik Knudsen and I am visiting Amsterdam from the Washington, D.C. area. I am a competitive chess player and found out about the Schaakvereniging Caissa via a Google search.
Upon entering the club I was warmly received by the club manager. He registered me into their weekly rapid tournament (3 games rapid time control games all in one evening). This club also has bar where water, coffee, soda, or beer is served.
All of the club members are very friendly. I happened to win all of my games and afterwards I stayed at the club and chatted with several of the regulars. We took turns buying each other several rounds of beer.
I cannot recommend a visit to this club enough! I had a wonderful time and if I was a resident of Amsterdam, I would join this club in a heartbeat. It’s definitely worth a visit, especially if you are a club/mid-level tournament player and you have time for a few games while on vacation.
If/when I ever return to Amsterdam, I will most certainly drop by the chess club again on Tuesday evening.
Leuk stukje, club manager Wim!
Fijne zomer!
